Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Theatre

The total minimum number of credits required for a Theatre major leading to the B.A. or B.S. degree is 124 of which 47 credit hours must include the following:

Theatre students should take THE-122: Computer Applications in Theatre (3 cr) to fulfil their computer competency requirement.
The B.A. degree requires a demonstrated proficiency in a modern foreign language through the 201 level.
The B.S. degree requires a demonstrated proficiency in a modern foreign language through the 102 level.

 

Theatre Teaching

In conjunction with the School of Education, the Department of Theatre offers a teaching degree in Theatre. This degree provides you with the opportunity to complete your teaching degree in four years while taking the coursework in Education necessary for certification. Furthermore, you will take the core Theatre courses necessary to prepare you to teach Theatre and to produce plays at the high school level.

Music/Theatre Concentration

The Department of Theatre does not offer a degree in Musical Theatre. However, for those students who wish to combine their Theatre studies with Music, we offer the Music/Theatre Concentration. This concentration allows students in Theatre and in Music to streamline their course work in the other discipline.

and four hours of Applied Voice

Theatre students should take THE-122: Computer Applications in Theatre (3 cr) to fulfil their computer competency requirement.

 

Theatre Minor

THE-120 Stagecraft, 131 Acting I, 231 Directing I, 241 Play Analysis, 340 Theatre History I, and 341 Theatre History II and one theatre design course; THE 221 Scene Design, 222 Lighting Design, or 223 Costume Design.
