The Department of Theatre awards numerous scholarships to incoming students every year. These scholarships can be as much as one quarter tuition. The final dollar amount of your scholarship will depend on other factors in your financial aid package such as the receipt of Music or Speech Team scholarships, etc.
The award of Theatre scholarships is based on an audition/interview process and is available to full-time Theatre majors and Theatre Teaching majors. Theatre scholarships are renewable for eight full-time semesters contingent on active participation in all major productions and maintaining at least a 2.5 grade point average.
Performers should prepare 2 two-minute contrasting monologues that demonstrate their range. Design/Tech students should prepare a four to five minute presentation of their portfolio. A videotaped audition/interview is acceptable if you live a distance from campus.
We encourage you to combine your audition with a campus visit arranged through the Office of Admissions. These visits include a campus tour and meetings with an Admissions counselor, Financial Aid, and faculty members.
Furthermore, the scholarship audition dates typically coincide with a UIndy Department of Theatre production. For information about receiving complimentary tickets for a performance, contact Brad Wright, Director of Theatre at (317) 788-3226 or bwright@uindy.edu.
